1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the SecureTrips mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install, access, or use the App.
These Terms constitute a binding legal agreement between you and the SecureTrips Team ("we," "our," or "us").
2. Description of Service
SecureTrips is a personal travel safety application designed to help users document, log, and track their journeys. Key features include real-time location trail mapping, trip check-ins, and media documentation.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the App at any time without notice.
3. User Accounts & Security
To use certain features of the App, you must authenticate using your Google Account via Google OAuth.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
- We are not liable for any losses caused by unauthorized access to your account.
4. User Conduct & Responsibilities
You agree to use the App solely for personal, lawful purposes. You shall not:
- Use the App to track or stalk individuals without their explicit consent.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the App.
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or offensive media.
- Falsify location coordinates or tamper with the App's data records.
5. Location and Data Services
The App relies heavily on GPS data, cellular signals, and background device processes to track your trips.
- Accuracy: Location data accuracy depends on your device's hardware, satellite visibility, and cellular connectivity. We do not guarantee the absolute accuracy of location logs.
- Background Tracking: Continuous background tracking requires appropriate device permissions and may increase battery consumption. It is your responsibility to monitor your device's battery levels.
- Data Synchronization: Syncing data to our servers requires an active internet connection. Offline data is stored locally and is at risk of loss if the App is uninstalled or the device is damaged before syncing.
6. Intellectual Property
All content, branding, logos, design elements, source code, and assets within the App are the exclusive property of SecureTrips or its licensors. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use the App for personal use in accordance with these Terms.
7. Safety Warning
⚠️ CRITICAL SAFETY NOTICE: SecureTrips is a travel documentation tool. It is NOT an emergency rescue service, search-and-rescue system, or replacement for official emergency response networks (like 911 or local emergency services). Do not rely on the App as your sole means of communication or safety in hazardous environments.
7.1 Location and Tracking Accuracy
Location data accuracy depends on satellite signal strength, device GPS hardware, environmental interference (e.g., canyons, forest cover, tall buildings), and operating system battery-saving restrictions. We make no warranty regarding the precision, completeness, or timeliness of any location data or trail mapped by the App.
7.2 Device & Connectivity Limitations
SecureTrips depends on your device's battery and active processes. The App does not prevent your device from running out of battery, and location logging will stop if the phone shuts down. Additionally, data requires active cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity to sync to our servers; unsynced data remains local and is vulnerable to loss if the device is lost, stolen, or broken.
7.3 User Responsibility & Assumption of Risk
Safe Traveling Practices: You assume all risks associated with your travels, hikes, trips, and outdoor activities. You are solely responsible for taking necessary safety precautions, including carrying backup navigation tools, extra batteries/power banks, and sharing plans with contacts beforehand.
The App is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the reliability, availability, or safety of the App's tracking features.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the SecureTrips Team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:
- Your use or inability to use the App.
- Any failure of location tracking, trip logging, or background services.
- Any unauthorized access to, alteration of, or loss of your data.
- Personal injury, property damage, or emergency situations arising during your travels.
9. Termination of Service
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App will cease immediately.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms on this page. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
